FURIOUS guests have slammed a hotel as a “hellhole” with shocking photos showing dirty toilets, spiders in rooms and pillow stains.
Scathing reviews on TripAdvisors call Scarborough’s The Grand Hotel a “mega dump” and a “shambles”.
One guest posted a photo of the bathroom showing a soaking wet floor and a disgusting yellow liquid in the toilet bowl.
He wrote: “Diabolical. Shambles. Dump. The customer service zero. Boils my pi** they just don’t care.
“Waiting for a reply since November to issues. Customer service people just resign as they can’t cope.”
He added: “Anybody who likes this hotel must have dementia or be on drugs or still have outside toilets.”
The hotel replied to the man saying: “Thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear that we did not tick your boxes.”
Another guest said that were was no way that he would ever return.
He said: “The hotel can get a 1 star because of how bad it was, the staff wasn’t helpful […], there was a leaking ceiling, uncomfortable beds and rooms.
“Bath had a spider, pillows had stains and annoying beeping sound when showering. Not impressed with the hotel and they should improve on what they are doing.”
They added: “I am not coming back to that freaking hellhole EVER!”
The hotel replied: “We hope you raised the concerns at the time giving us the opportunity to get it resolved during your stay.”
Yet some guests have been praising the hotel, after it recently had a makeover.
One person said: “Spent three nights with UK breakaways and had a nice stay. This is a great base for all the attractions around and value for money.
“Staff were polite and helpful,nothing was too much trouble. The hotel as been freshly painted and makeover and looks great.
“The food was OK and we enjoyed it.”
Another guest said: “We booked last minute got an excellent deal for £34, we had a lovely stay, great location, we couldn’t fault a thing, staff were lovely, room was nice had everything we needed lovely warm and clean.
“We paid only £7.50 for all you can eat breakfast that was lovely too, very happy with our stay, hopefully we can go back soon. Thank you to the staff at the grand hotel for making our stay memorable.”
