I was horrified after Uber delivered my McDonald’s burger with a shocking note

A STUDENT was left horrified after an UberEats driver delivered her McDonald’s burger with a shocking note.

Hungover Emily Somers, 21, ordered the £4.09 McPlant burger as a midday pick-me-up following her boozy birthday bash the night before.

But she was shocked to discover the item’s handwritten label had the words “only ketamine” scrawled on it in black pen.

The note – which failed to include the letter ‘e’ at the end of the drug – also stated the contents of the box was a sandwich which had no cheese.

Emily claims her and boyfriend Zac Parker, 21, were so disturbed they pulled apart the burger to inspect it before she ate it at home in Leeds.

The law student has since branded the class B drug’s reference “inappropriate” and worried what questions children would have asked if the bizarre order was for them.

Vegetarian Emily complained to McDonald’s that day and was given a £7.50 voucher – but she called on the fast food giants to investigate.

McDonald’s said they had investigated the incident and found “nothing to suggest the box left the restaurant in this way”.

Uber Eats said their driver confirmed it had been delivered according to their guidelines.

Emily, who lives in Headingley, Leeds, said: “When Zac noticed it, we were so confused. It was so random.

“It was suggesting they’d laced my burger with drugs.

“I took everything off and inspected it because I had to check to see if it had been tampered with.

“The fact it goes through the kitchen and then someone delivers it, that puts a bit of worry on your mind.

“I had a bit of a sore head after a 21st birthday party, so I was looking forward to a McDonald’s.

“I took it quite well initially but then I thought what if it was a mum ordering it for a child. You can’t [write] that. It’s inappropriate.

“I didn’t anticipate any actual ketamine being in there and understood it was probably some employee humour, but I was very apprehensive about eating it.

“There should be more quality control and an investigation into the branch and staff that were dealing with the order.

“The delivery bag was completely sealed when it arrived via the Uber Eats driver, so there’s no way he could have tampered with it because it would have been ripped.

“Luckily there was no problem with the meal. I didn’t have any weird side effects!”

Self-confessed fussy eater Emily suspects staff may have been mocking her “only ketchup’ “order – and chose to switch out the sauce’s name for the drug.

After messaging McDonald’s directly on Twitter, she tweeted an image of the box captioned “only ketamin, sorry please explain?”.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We have fully investigated this incident and have found nothing to suggest the box left the restaurant in this way.

“We are, of course, disappointed the customer did not have the experience they expected, and apologise for any offence caused.”

Uber Eats said they had spoken to the courier involved who confirmed that he made the delivery according to their guidelines without opening or tampering with the bag.
