A MUM has told how her son woke her up at sunrise to buy an energy drink created by YouTuber’s – but she doesn’t understand the hype.

She explained her 11-year-old had dragged her out of bed to hunt down internet stars KSI and Logan Paul‘s creation, Prime Hydration.

The fruit-flavored drinks have been flying off the shelves since they arrived in the UK amid an exclusive deal with Asda.

The parent, who wished to remain anonymous, was roused from her slumber at 6.15am after receiving intel about a possible restock.

She rushed to a service station near her home in Meir Park, Stoke-on-Trent, with her youngster to ensure they were the first to arrive.

The pair had to sit in the car until 7am until staff began unloading the delivery – but managed to bag four bottles of the viral beverage.

Demand for the drink – which is basically a mix of water, coconut water, sweeteners and vitamins – has been huge and TikTok has fuelled the craze – leaving shortages across the country.

But the mum was left pleasantly surprised when she arrived at the shop and wasn’t met by a mob of desperate teens and parents.

She told StokeonTrentLive: “I was expecting queues of people and chaos but there wasn’t anybody there.

“Kids can’t buy them because they are energy drinks so I had to buy them. He got two blue and two red bottles.

“There’s the whole hype of it and everybody is talking about it, kids feel like they are missing out if they haven’t tried it.

“It’s going crazy and I genuinely don’t know why.”

Creator KSI has even claimed that ASDA workers are selling Prime Hydration on the black market amid the nationwide frenzy.

The in-demand beverages are being flogged for profit – up to 500 times their £2 price tag – according to the YouTuber and rapper.

Individual bottles are being sold at up to £60 a time on eBay.

But this mum says she doesn’t understand the buzz around the sugar drenched beverage.

She continued: “Every kid in the world wants one and every time we are near an Asda we have to go in and ask if they have got any.

“We’re told as soon as they put them on the shelves they are gone.

“The blue raspberry is not too bad but I think the tropical punch is vile, I am not a fan of that one at all.

“It’s going crazy and I genuinely don’t know why.”

Prime has been so popular that some Asda branches have introduced a three-bottle limit, while some schools have banned it altogether.

KSI and Paul came up with the idea for coconut water-based Prime Hydration after their final boxing match in 2019.

During a live stream, the pair said they wanted to “rival the biggest companies on earth” with their products – including “Pepsi, Coke, Gatorade and Powerade”.

But they insisted their main goals for the 11-flavour project – which includes blue raspberry, tropical punch and grape – were taste and hydration.
