But actress Emma Atkins confirmed that the couple won’t stay together once the truth about Mackenzie being Chloe’s baby daddy is revealed.

She told the Metro.co.uk: “It’s not just that he has cheated but he’s also got baggage to prove it. So there’s so much at stake now.”

Talking about the much-anticipated wedding, Emma said: “There are hints that they’re going to go for a big wedding if it does go ahead.

“Charity just thinks why not – what’s the point in holding back? At first the lady doth protest too much as she keeps saying she doesn’t want a big wedding.

“But now she’s got her head round it, she’s now thinking why don’t we go for the full meringue.

“So I can imagine it’s going to be big, bold and brassy. Typical Charity wanting everyone to know that this is her big day which will obviously be way more contrasting for all the awfulness that is hiding behind the day.”

However, once Mackenzie and Chloe’s secret is out can the couple survive another revelation?

The actress said: “I shouldn’t imagine they’ll be able to stay together if and when it does come out.

“That’s a shame in a way as I love working with Lawrence. But who knows, maybe she would find it in her to forgive him.

“But at this point in time I can’t see that happening because Charity has put all of her trust in him.

“So when it does come out I think it will be such a shock. And the word shock is probably going to be the understatement of the year.”

Emma teases lots more drama is in store this year.

She revealed: “I love my job and I’m lucky that they write really well for my character and there’s that nice mixture of humour and seriousness.

“I get to play it all and I’m really grateful for that. She’s got many sides to her which makes it very interesting to play.

“I’m very excited for the upcoming year.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV.
