A BEAUTY fan has urged others not to give themselves an at-home chemical peel, after sharing a look at how it left her skin.
Andrea took to her TikTok page to document the progress of the trichloracetic acid (TCA) peel, which left her with chemical burns on her skin.
In one video, she shared a day-to-day rundown of how it had left her skin, explaining that the first day her “skin got very dark, spots came to the surface”.
On day two, her skin started to feel tight, and her face looked frozen.
The “peeling and crusting” began on day three, and by day five 70% of the peeling had taken place – with the pink new skin visible underneath.
On day six, Andrea wrote that her “chemical burns scabbed over, 90% of peeling complete”.

She added in response to another comment: “This is not meant to be done at home it can cause permanent damage and has to be used by a pro.”
“I’d be smart enough not to do a CHEMICAL peel at home,” someone else wrote.
“i’m actually baffled that you’d try this yourself,” another added.
As a third commented: “WHY, im a diy girly with lashes, tinting eyebrows, and waxing but MA’AM THIS IS LITERALLY SCIENCE.”
In another video going into more depth about her day three peeling, she explained that dealing with her skin peeling off “is not fun”.
“umm that’s a whole face coming off,” one person commented.
“I’d be ripping it off my face,” another said.
To which Andrea replied: “U risk scarring yourself.
“It’s like taking a scab off an unhealed wound.”
She attempted to cut some of the hanging skin off, but once again stressed that she regrets having done the peel alone at home.
