Qantas scare as jet is forced to turn around mid-flight due to an engine issue after 90 minutes in the air

A Qantas plane has been forced to turn around mid-flight due to an engine issue.
TheĀ QF703 flight from Cairns to MelbourneĀ took off at 2.10pm on Tuesday but the aircraft returned to the Cairns Airport after nearly an hour-and-a-half in the air.Ā
A spokesperson for the airline saidĀ pilots had received ‘a cockpit notification of a potential engine issue’.

‘The pilots followed standard procedures and requested a priority landing, but emergency services were not required and the aircraft landed safely and normally,’ the spokesperson continued.
‘Customers will be re-accommodated as soon as possible.’
The flight had been due to land in Melbourne at 4.20pm.Ā
