Care home bosses apologise after shocking spelling mistake on advert

A CARE home has apologised for a spelling mistake on its ad ­— naming it Skeleton Court.

Bosses at Skelton Court said they were investigating the error.

Their promotional poster at a bus stop shows an elderly resident with a young carer.

But the welcoming tone was dealt a blow by the printing blunder in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorks.

Martin Walker, 44, of nearby Stockton-on-Tees, said: “I noticed the poster as I drove past.

“At first I wondered whether it was a slightly bad-taste joke. But it looks as though the printers have made a typo.

“That can happen but surely someone must have read them before they were put up for everyone to see.

“I’m not sure many people would be keen to have their loved ones move into somewhere known as Skeleton Court.”

Another who spotted it and shared the image on Twitter wrote: “A new care home has opened in my parents’ village of Skelton.

“Bold choice of name considering the age of many residents.”

Skelton Court owner Anchor said: “We’re really sorry for the error in the ad.

“We’re ­getting it removed and looking into how it happened.”
