My wife wants to charge my family for Christmas dinner and not her own, I think it’s outrageous but now she’s mad at me

AN irritated husband has voiced his frustrations about his wife wanting to charge his family to stay with them for the holidays.

He expressed that he thought it was outrageous to not charge her own relatives, which caused her to get upset.

Reddit user Human-Persin aired out his annoyance about an unsettling lodging situation on social media.

In a post on the platform, he revealed that his wife wanted to charge his family per person to stay at their house during Christmas.

He explained that they were hosting this year and tons of extended relatives would stay there and their children would sleep elsewhere.

“We prepared for Christmas by buying another fridge and so we spent $500+ on this,” he wrote.

The amount of people staying over on both of their sides was a major contrast.

His wife’s family included her three brothers and their wives, and her sister and her husband, and all of their kids.

On the other hand, the Reddit user’s family consisted of over 15 adults as well as their children.

“After all of them left my wife was mad at the cost so she said we should charge my family $30 per person and not charge hers,” he divulged.

A major factor was that his wife’s family brought and made food while the husband’s family didn’t.

He admitted that he was “obviously mad” and told her “no way!”

As a result, she got very upset with him and said “she’s been having a hard time lately and to give her a breath.”

He asked readers if he was the a**hole for sharing his opinion and making her mad.

Majority of Reddit users wrote in the comments that he wasn’t at fault.

For people who are unaware, the letters NTA stand for “not the a**hole.”

“NTA charging your family is tacky. They should have offered and insisted on chipping in on costs,” one commented.

Another wrote: “You’re definitely NTA but your wife is. Why charge your family and not hers if anything it should be the other way around since her family actually got to use the new fridge.”

Another chimed in: “You dont agree to host people for the holidays and charge them. If people arent gracious, theyre a**holes. Unfortunately, we dont get to charge a**holes for being a**holes.”
