Colleen (@colleenscooking) boasts a huge following of 197,000.

Her professional life is one focused on creating recipes in the kitchen.

In her time, she has experienced her fair share of burnt pots but she knows how to bring them up as good as new with this tip.

In this post, she shared a hack passed down the generations.

“This is my trick that my grandmom taught me a million years ago,” she joked. “Cleaning tip for burnt pots or pans.

“It’s a busy time of year and you know burnt pans happen,” she mused.

She had her own issue to deal with, having come home to a pot that was burnt beyond recognition.

First, she reached for her packet of baking soda, just $1 from Walmart.

“You put barely enough water in there to cover the bottom of the pan or pot,” she instructed.

“Cover it with baking soda. I save old baking soda for this purpose,” she said.

“Let is simmer for about four to five minutes until most of the water is gone and it’s like a wet paste.”

Now it was time for some elbow grease, but not much.

“While it’s hot carefully use a spatula – if necessary – or a sponge.”

She had a stubborn one to deal with, so repeated the process.

“This one was so tough I had to do it twice. But typically it just comes right off,” she said.

“So if you have a pot that needs to be fixed right up if it’s burnt, this always works.”

Her video was timely for some viewers, who were looking for a miracle for their pots.

“Thank you. My pans have been sitting for two days. I didn’t know what to do, but your video helped,” said one person.
