I live in my dead grandparents’ house alone – I didn’t heed a warning & woke up to a surprise, it was a major lesson

A GRAND-DAUGHTER has revealed her less-than-savory experience living in her dead grandparents’ home.

She said that ignoring a warning about inclement weather lead to a sticky situation.

Zoe Carty (@zoeacarty), 22, filmed the basement blunder in a video on TikTok.

“There was a warning that was issued yesterday to expect flooding due to the rain,” she said.

“I wasn’t worried because I didn’t have to go anywhere, so I could just stay at home all day and play with the puppy.

“I was completely oblivious to what was going on in the basement,” she added.

She shared a clip of herself walking in rain boots in a heavily flooded basement, which through carpets and even appliances.

“There was just so much groundwater accumulation that it started seeping into the basement and covering the entire floor. I’d guess about three inch inches in some places,” she said.

“When I discovered this, I genuinely had no idea what to do because I’d never been in this situation before and I have no idea how my grandparents handled this.

“In the past, if there ever were any floods, all that I could think of was to grab this bucket and just start getting as much water as possible,” she added.

She filmed herself using a clean trash bin in an attempt to remediate the situation by removing the water.

“I realized very quickly that there was just so much water on the ground that there was no way I could get all of this done with a trash can,” she said.

“I spent all morning on the phone with the insurance companies, and I’ve been learning a lot about homeowners insurance.

“So for now, I just wait and see until someone can come out and help me out,” she added.

She specified that her video wasn’t a complaint, but rather a depiction of how things can go awry in everyday life.

“I’m in no way complaining about this because it’s just life, but it’s just another learning opportunity from living in this house,” she added.
