A DAD left in a coma after a motorcycle crash forgot he had an eight-year-son who was killed in the horror.

Mohamed Mao, 49, was crossing the road with Mustafa Ahmed and 11-year-old Ahmed when they were struck by the bike.

Mustafa was launched several yards after being catapulted into the air and was later declared dead at the scene in Plumstead, South East London.

His dad was airlifted to hospital with a head injury and shattered hip, while Ahmed suffered a punctured liver and neck lacerations.

Mohamed was left in an induced coma for two months and needed intensive therapy to learn to talk again.

He has now revealed how he woke up with amnesia and had no memory of his children.

The bus driver told the Mirror: “When I woke up, I didn’t remember anything, I didn’t know my wife, I didn’t know anybody.

“I didn’t know the reason I was there.”

Mohamed said when his memories eventually came back, he was told his son had passed away in the crash.

The dad said he “felt guilty” as he had taken Mustafa from their home on the day of the crash.

He added: “I used to think it was because of me. I used to think that way.”

The family had been walking to the Greenwich Islamic Centre in February when the Yamaha Thundercat motorbike slammed into them.

Mohamed, who was holding Mustafa’s hand at the time, said he “can’t remember” anything from the crash.

But he can recall his final memory of his son a few days before the tragedy.

He said: “I went for a walk, just me and him, along the River Thames near our house.

“We used to go along there a lot. That’s all I can remember.”

The dad is still recovering from his injuries and has been left unable to work while he waits for a hip replacement.

He said Ahmed is also suffering still and won’t even step foot in the room he used to share with his younger brother.

Mohamed said: “He’s recovered but not perfectly. He likes to be alone, he’s quiet all the time. He wants to be sitting alone and keep quiet.”
