For those who’ve not heard of the ‘orange peel’ theory, you might want to do a quick search on Tiktok.

Essentially, the theory boils down to whether your partner does small and random acts of kindness for you on a regular basis.

As the name suggests, this could be as basic as peeling an orange because you are struggling, making a cuppa or picking your favourite sweet treat just because.

Though these might go unnoticed, these gestures might signal that your partner truly cares and appreciates you – even after the honeymoon period has ended.

If these are missing from your love life, it might be a strong indicator that the relationship isn’t meant to last forever.

There are countless videos about the dating theory on Tiktok, with user @annabhamm using the citrusy example and telling her followers: “…their response is indicative of much bigger things than merely peeling an orange.

“Because a super tiny thing like that reveals so much about their attitude towards you and your relationship.”

She added: “I mean we’ve all been in that relationship where we feel like we’re literally having to practically beg on our hands and knees for someone just to get us flowers or pick up dinner on the way home.”

Her though provoking viral video has quickly gained over 700,000 views, causing many viewers to reflect on their own relationship with startling results.

One commenter even admitted that she’d wished she’d known about the dating theory before walking down the aisle.

She wrote: “…in my past relationship I had to beg for everything. We’re now divorced.”

Others had similarly negative experiences, with one woman’s partner even refusing to help her when she was grieving a tragic loss.

“Riding with me to a close friend’s funeral. I told him he didn’t need to go but it was two states away… [so] just ride with me,” she explained, adding: “Nope. That was my big sign.”

Another even tried the theory on her current partner, with rather mixed results.

“Tried the orange peel theory and he said “no” and when I tried to do it on my own he passive aggressively took it from my hand and did it for me,” she confessed, adding two crying emojis.

Before you stop believing in love though, there were more women how’d found partners who were willing to do virtually anything for them – including the most boring of household chores.

“Making me beans on toast but cutting my toast into little squares because that’s how I like it [and] that’s how it tastes best,” added a fourth in the comments.

“[He] brushes my hair when I’m in a rush,” revealed a fifth, saying: “It is something I can do but it’s so helpful.”

We hope you find a partner that is willing to help you with even the little things.
