The Grand Tour’s five most shocking moments from Jeremy Clarkson blowing up his house to James May’s wall smash

THE Grand Tour has come to an end – but the crashes, explosions and banter will live on in the memory for years to come.

Hosted by former Top Gear stars Jeremy ClarksonRichard Hammond and James May, the popular show is now coming to an end.

The three created the series after previously presenting Top Gear as a trio up to 2015 when they left the BBC.

But following a very public row, the boys packed Top Gear in.

Meanwhile Top Gear was axed last Tuesday after Freddie Flintoff, who subsequently co-hosted the show with Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, was involved in a horror smash during filming last year.

But, while Clarkson, May and Hammond were making TV together, the triumvirate managed to get themselves into a lot of trouble.

And while it can be hard to tell which of the crashes have been set up and which are authentic, there are some genuinely shocking crashes.

Here’s a look back at some of the most shocking moments from the Grand Tour.

May keeps crashing in Scandanavia

May, driving a bright yellow Mitsubishi Evo, managed to crash into a wall when the gang were doing speed tests down a tunnel at Cold War submarine base.

“I saw his head clobber the pillar… he went in sideways into the wall,” Clarkson said describing the crash.

For his troubles, May suffered a broken rib.

But that was not May’s only smash on the Scandi trip. He also went through the ice in a frozen lake and had to be rescued by the other two.

Clarkson’s house explodes

When Clarkson stakes the structural integrity of his house on a race in Portugal, it turns out to be a bad bet.

So, May and Hammond show up with diggers and argue over whether to use them to destroy the house manically or methodically.

Eventually, they settle on dynamite and blow the Cotswold stone up in a large ball of fire.

Hammond almost dies again

While racing in a Swiss hill climb event, Hammond drives a million-pound concept supercar off the side of the track.

Unlike his infamous dragster crash in 2006, Hammond stayed awake and spoke to first responders while still in the car.

They managed to remove him only seconds before the car burst into flames, with the show showing footage of the emergency crew extinguishing them.

Hammond is airlifted to hospital where he spends the next six days, with only a fractured his knee.

Hammond wets himself

Despite most of the show’s action happening on four wheels, in Vietnam the three take to the open seas.

But, the sea turns out to be choppy and the small boats get buffered by the waves with the gang getting soaked.

“I’ve just managed to p*** myself standing up where I was,” Hammond says resignedly, drenched.

The waves are so bad that May manages to crash his boat into the back of a small civilian and the film crew’s boat takes on a lot of water.

When they finally get to land, May looks like a “bedraggled dog” and the three are so tired they don’t celebrate surviving.

Goose intestine

In the Chinese city of Conqing the lads eat goose intestine hot pot.

“I’ve seen more appetising things stuck to the back of my terrier,” says Hammond as Clarkson lifts a piece to his mouth.

“A rubber hosepipe, covered in napalm,” described Clarkson when he tastes it.

And while the exoticness of the goose intestine might be shocking, Hammond’s deep-fried McSpaghetti ball quickly shows maybe the least edible things are at home.
