WITH a baby due on Christmas, a mother-to-be thought it was only right she give the newborn a holiday-themed name.

But her idea has received some backlash from relatives.

Posting anonymously to Reddit, the expecting woman shared the top contender for her daughter.

“Baby girl due this Christmas. Everyone hates my favorite name idea,” she began in the post.

While she said she was expecting pushback on this topic, she tried to offer her reasoning for the moniker.

“I really like the name Gloriana for our little girl. It’s pronounced the way you’d say Ariana.”

She even had a nickname in mind that felt totally appropriate for Christmas.

“I think Glory is a cute nickname.

“And she can still go by Anna/Ahna later on if she hates it.”

The mother explained that she has been a fan of this name since before she even got pregnant, but now, due to some criticism, she isn’t so sure it’s a good idea.

“My mother-in-law and husband love it, but my father-in-law and relatives kind of hate it.”

Still, she’s torn on whether she should run with what feels good to her or be cautious for her daughter’s sake.

“I keep being told it’s my baby and I can name her whatever and not to worry about other people’s opinions.

“But that’s not entirely true. This is my daughter’s name. It is important and it’s something she has to carry for her entire life. I don’t want her to be stuck with a stupid name.”

That’s why she turned to the Reddit community, asking: “Exactly how terrible is this name? Would it be a mistake to give it to my daughter?”

Most thought it was a good option.

“Gloriana is a perfectly beautiful name to me. It feels more contemporary than Gloria,” one wrote.

“I like it. It’s unique without being difficult to pronounce or spell and it has a really strong feel to it,” added another.

A third, however, said it was a little off: “Gloria is just right there and feels way more elegant.”

And a fourth didn’t mince words: “Personally, I really hate it.”
