A MUM goes crackers for kitsch Christmas colours with a 1970s theme filling her whole house.

Estelle Bilson, 46, decorates with tacky tinsel, loud lights and far-out foil ornaments.

A plastic snowman and Father Christmas take pride of place in the living room, which also has huge sweetie wrapper decorations.

Over Christmas Estelle, her husband and seven-year-old son will tuck into cheese fondue, trifle and Quality Streets from a 1970s tin.

They will gather round their modern telly to watch the 1977 The Good Life Christmas special.

Estelle also dons a Warninks jumper to celebrate her favourite brand of Advocaat and uses the egg, sugar and brandy liqueur to mix up Snowball cocktails.

Estelle, who posts about her ’70s home in Stretford, Manchester, on Instagram, sources her decorations at car boot sales and online.

She said: “Christmas is about reliving the magical festive seasons of my childhood and that means it has to look like Christmas has thrown up in my house.

“Of course, it’s not to everybody’s taste and I’ve had people tell me my decorations are ghastly.

“But I couldn’t care less — for me Christmas isn’t supposed to look perfect, it’s supposed to look like joy.”
