A BRITISH woman has shared the story of how she came to be engaged to a US prisoner that lives 4,000 miles away from her.
Katie shared her tale via a video posted to her TikTok channel, where she is known as @katiedanny12.
Opening the video, she said: “My fiancé is called Danny and he is in prison in the USA.”
Katie explained that she met Danny through a pen pal site called Write a Prisoner.
She then showed viewers the website and explained that you can search by age, race religion, state etc. and you will be given a list of prisoner profiles with information about them.
Katie said that she was intrigued by the website because she had never heard of anything like it before and because she had a friend who used to be in prison who told her that he wished he had had someone to write to when he was in prison as he was often lonely and in segregation.

She explained that she never intended to use the website to find a relationship and just wanted to be a nice person and be a good friend to someone.
Katie said that after speaking to some friends she decided not to write to people who had committed certain crimes.
She said that the first person that she wrote to was Danny, who is now her fiancé.
Katie said that Danny seemed very articulate and intelligent and wrote to him because she thought they would have good conversations.

She said that the pair got on like a house on fire and began talking over email non-stop.
After a few weeks, they began talking over the phone and eventually realised that they both liked each other and wanted to be together.
Katie said that Danny straight away asked her to marry him and she said yes, even though the pair hadn’t even met yet.
Danny is in prison for armed robbery and could be released in either 2024 or 2025.
When Katie and Danny met, it was 2021 so she has already been waiting for three years for him to get out of prison.
They plan to get married soon and Katie will have to move to the US when Danny gets out of prison because if someone has been in prison overseas for more than a year they are never allowed to live in the UK.
TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Katie and Danny’s relationship.
One user said: “I’m very invested in this love story!”
