A RADICALLY transformed Mercedes Benz capable of surviving an apocalypse has surfaced online – and it could be yours for just a couple thousand dollars.

Once just an ordinary 1990 Mercedes Benz 300E, Mercedes master Greg Rogers took it upon himself to transform the vehicle into a Mad-Max tribute.

Earlier this year, Rogers told Motor 1 that he was inspired by a TV series about World War II soldiers who fought in the North African campaign.

He proceeded to take parts from various Mercedes models and wove them together masterfully to create his military-based look.

Eyes are immediately drawn to the MG42 machine gun atop the car roof, and you might be surprised to find out that this isn’t a real firearm.

It’s actually a copy that Rogers was able to construct from Mercedes parts.

The barrel was made from a Mercedes ML steering column, the shroud was made from an ignition tumbler, the belt is composed of a timing chain, while the bullets were fashioned from injectors.

There’s also an ammo box on the passenger side’s front wing, which has been converted into a battery holder.

This dystopian masterpiece of a car also features an air compressor in the trunk, which runs through a line to the tank on the roof, and sends air to a century-old steam whistle.

Other additions also include a hood rack that was formed out the wing of a 190E 16-valve Mercedes model.

The auxiliary lights below the rack are also old Mercedes parts and cast sharp beams to illuminate the road ahead.

It’s already a beast of a machine, but the modifications hardly stop there.

The base frame of the car has also been carefully curated with parts of an ML40 – supplying it with off-road capabilities Mad Max could only have dreamt about.

It’s power comes from a 4.3 litre V8, rated at 268 horsepower and with 288 lb-ft of torque.

All four wheels are spun by a 5-speed automatic transmission, and Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

Internally, this one-of-a-kind Merc features leather upholstery, air conditioning, power windows, and powered front-seats.

It’s now been listed on cars&bids, and has already seen over 26,000 views.

The current highest bid is $4,300, and bidding ends in just under 24 hours – so if you want an apocalypse-surviving vehicle you better get on it quick.

This comes just weeks after Lewis Hamilton’s old Merc sold for £15 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction in Las Vegas.

That makes it pricier than the previous most expensive modern-day F1 car – Michael Schumacher’s 2003 Ferrari F2003.

However it is still not as costly as the most expensive F1 car of all time.

The 1954 Mercedes W196R, driven by Juan Manuel Fangio, was sold by Bonhams in 2013 for £19.6million.
