Singer Charlotte Church has knocked £300,000 off the price for her family home after failing to sell it in almost six months.

Mother-of-three Charlotte, 37, bought The Spinney for £1.3million after splitting with former rugby ace Gavin Henson in 2010.

She put the house on the market for £2.3million in August last year – but after failing to sell the price has now been lowered to ‘offers over’ £2million.

She previously described the six-bedroom home in Dinas Powys, a gated property at the end of a private drive, as the ‘perfect party house.’

The singer has also spoken about how special the property is because it is surrounded by nature.

But she also owns a countryside mansion formerly owned by fashion icon Laura Ashley and has set about turning it into a green retreat.

Charlotte has spent the past two years between the two properties – and is expected to permanently settle at the country escape in Mid Wales when the sale of her other house goes through.

Asked why the home had been so special to her, she said: ‘I think particularly the fact that we’re surrounded by nature. We’ve got these amazing mature gardens.

‘It’s the sort of thing that you would only see in like an arboretum, so that feels pretty special.

‘Also the fact that we’re literally 10 minutes from the centre of Cardiff which is super handy to be this remote and in a retreat sanctuary but also to be so close to town.

‘And also the fact that we’ve had some seriously amazing parties here. It’s a perfect party house – both kids parties and adults parties.’

Asked what her favourite part of the house was, Charlotte said: ‘For me it’s all about the garden and the nature surrounding. We’re bordered by forests on three sides so for me this house is all about nature.

‘We have three acres of gardens here at The Spinney and there are loads of magical little areas. One being The Spinney – which is what the house is named after. We got married in there so that’s a very sacred special place.

Charlotte says that sometimes she sleeps outside

The singer said the property was good for both adult and kids parties

‘There’s a lot of energy to the land. We’re bordered by forests on three sides and on the other side bordered by a golf course so it’s amazing to feel like so remote and so secluded.

‘For me it feels a bit like a sanctuary. We have loads of wildlife, loads of birds, amazing sunrises here.

‘The Spinney is a beautiful place to be. The other place we love is the swing chair – or the swing bed as it is. Sometimes I sleep outside.

‘We’ve also got our ceremonial circle space which again is for us to mark the seasons and transitions and things that happen in our lives – we are proper nature people.’

Charlotte also revealed they had a ‘nature bedroom’ – an outhouse building for guests to stay, a zip line for children to play on and apple, plum, and hazelnut trees which are perfect for ‘foraging.’

The former Voice of an Angel singer bought Rhydoldog House in 2021 as a retreat for paying guests to ‘reconnect with themselves and the natural world’.

The home, which she has renamed The Dreaming, is just outside the rural market town of Rhayader – and this week Church voiced a campaign to encourage visitors to the town.

The three-minute long video is titled Rhayader: The Outdoors Capital of Wales and has been promoted by the town council.

Charlotte says: ‘Nestled in the Cambrian Mountains, in the geographical centre of Wales is the historical market town of Rhayader, the outdoors capital of Wales.

‘A hub for outdoor enthusiasts with miles of rivers, hiking trails, and mountain bike tracks waiting to be explored.’

‘Its position as the gateway to the Elan Valley further boasts its perfect location, surrounded by a beautiful expanse of countryside, nature, and reservoirs that attracts visitors from around the world.

‘With a fantastic community of independent shops, accommodation and eateries, Rhayader is the perfect destination to make your next memories.’
