  • Ten Hag to stay at Man Utd

Erik ten Hag looks set to avoid the sack this season.

That is because Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning a detailed structural review which will likely take up to two months.

Ineos owner Ratcliffe bought 25 per cent of Manchester United on Christmas Eve for £1.3billion and is undergoing the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test.

As part of his takeover, he and right-hand man Sir Dave Brailsford want to do a huge audit of the football side of the club in an attempt to grasp the “performance challenge” on their hands.

And according to the Independent, that could see the Red Devils bring in not just a sporting director – but a director of football as well in a radical move to split the responsibilities across two people.

John Murtough is the current football director but he is at risk while Darren Fletcher is the technical director.

Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell is the current frontrunner for the sporting director role – especially as he has family in Manchester – while ex-Liverpool duo Julian Ward and Michael Edwards could be targeted.

  • Jose Mourinho considering Roma future

Jose Mourinho is “considering his future at Roma” a day after being sent off against Atalanta.

Mourinho’s contract is up at the end of the season, and according to Foot Mercato – there is reluctance on both sides to commit to the deal.

After a torrid start to the season, there were already rumours that Mourinho could lose his job in October, where Mourinho said: “Three months ago, I was loved.

“There was panic just talking about my goodbyes. Today, given that we had a horrible start to the season in the league, I am questioning myself.

“But that’s not a problem. You keep talking about the future, but I don’t have to talk about the future.”

  • Liverpool to rival Arsenal for Prem star

Liverpool are reportedly in a battle with Arsenal over a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The report further claims that Neto is a player – who has caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp so Liverpool could make a swoop for him in the upcoming window.

However, Fichajes states that Arsenal have also been showing a concrete interest in acquiring Neto’s signature so Liverpool are set to face tough competition from the North London club in getting any potential deal done for him.

  • Bayern to rival Spurs bid

Bayern Munich have reportedly joined Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli in the race to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham have seemingly positioned themselves at the head of the queue to sign Dragusin and are in negotiations with Genoa, but the Lilywhites are yet to strike an agreement with their Italian counterparts.

According to Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern – whose search for a new centre-back has been well-documented – have also registered their interest in the Romania international, and club chiefs have been informed about the conditions of a possible transfer.

Bayern would apparently be prepared to offer a fixed fee of €25m (£21.5m) in addition to bonuses for Dragusin, but Genoa are said to have slapped a €35m (£30.1m) price tag on the head of the defender.

  • Everton and Man Utd eye youngster

  • Juventus end Kalvin Phillips interest

Juventus have reportedly ended their interest in Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli recently hinted that the club are set to withdraw their interest in the Premier League duo and that the Italian giants may not pursue a new midfielder in January.

Giuntoli said: “At this stage, there are no right opportunities from the economical and technical standpoints, so we stay as is.

“I wouldn’t say we have numerical need (to buy a new midfielder) because those missing have been out for a few months.

“We have a lot of guys who are capable but haven’t found much room and already proved their quality like Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Samuel Iling-Junior, and Fabio Miretti. The squad is worthy, and the coach is happy.

“[Massimiliano Allegri is] doing extraordinary things with the lads and his staff. We’ll keep at it keeping our heads down.”

With Chelsea in the market for a new striker this month – Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are both expensive targets – many have speculated the Blues could be forced to sell players before spending in order to appease Financial Fair Play regulations, but Pochettino does not believe that to be the case.

Pochettino said: “No, it is not like this. Like you know, too many rumours going around the clubs. It is not what [the owners] translate to me. It is not necessary to sell to buy some players.

“We keep a good relationship and I think everything is very well. Conversations, normal conversations that we need to have and if we decide something we will announce as soon as possible.”

He told Sky Sports: “Everyone knows Brentford is a family club, they have been nothing but amazing for me. I can’t thank them enough, especially the fans. They were behind me from the first minute as well. So it’s kind of like I have a lot to repay.

“With Brentford, they’re struggling at the moment but I’m sure when I’m back I will play a big part to get them out of the losing form they’ve been in. I can’t wait to get back and be helping my team-mates.

“Everybody at Brentford knows I will do my best to try and get the club out of the sticky patch we’re in. But there’s no pressure and even if there was, I wouldn’t feel it and that’s what drives me forward. Brentford, we’ve been here before and we know how to get out of it.”
