Hey now, hey now, this is what reboots are made of.

A writer for the now-axed “Lizzie McGuire” reboot revealed that Hilary Duff’s iconic character would have finally hooked up with her middle school crush Ethan Craft … two times.

In a four-part series on TikTok, writer Jonathan Hurwitz revealed that in the series, McGuire (Duff) would have returned to her childhood home after her picturesque life in New York City implodes.

At the end of the second episode, McGuire would receive a text message from Craft (Clayton Snyder) “and animated Lizzie faints.”

Additionally, the opening of Episode 3, which had not been filmed, depicted Duff, 36, waking up in Craft’s bed wearing his shirt while the animated version of her character pops up with a to-do list and crosses off Craft’s name.

“She checks it off and says something like, ‘Well, checked that box.’ Dramatic pause. ‘Twice,’” Hurwitz said, adding that the scene might have been too mature for Disney.

Elsewhere in the video, which has gained 90,000 views, Hurwitz revealed that McGuire and her best pal Gordo (played by Adam Lamberg) would reunite. Fans who dreamed of the pair ending up together, however, would be sadly disappointed.

In the new episodes, Gordo would have told Lizzie that he was engaged and expecting a child.

The original Disney series ran from 2001 to 2004. The new show never saw the light of day, ultimately ending over a contract dispute between Duff and Disney.

“Dad is SPILLING and we are DEVOURING every last drop, thank you for your service,” one TikTok user commented on Hurwitz’s video.

“We were robbed of ETHAN CRAFT,” sputtered a second person.

“The way Disney really deprived us of this reboot we deserved,” a third person stated.

A fourth user lamented the fact that they should “have brought it to Hulu or something.”

The “Lizzie McGuire” reboot was announced in August 2019 with the show’s original creator Terri Minsky helming the project alongside original cast members Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas.

In January 2020, Minsky exited the show and forced the project into limbo before being canceled in December of that same year.

“The stars just didn’t align,” Duff said after news of the cancelation broke.

Prior to the cancelation, both Duff and Minsky reportedly lobbied to have Hulu pick up the series to better reflect McGuire’s transition into adulthood.

“I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating,” Duff said on Instagram at the time. “It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again.”
