SELLING on Vinted can be difficult at the best of times, with endless haggling over old Topshop tops, paying postage and slumps in sales.
One user has been left in shock though after receiving a ‘rude’ message from a potential buyer, who fat-shamed her over her items before making a shocking request.
With many people struggling amid the cost of living crisis, it’s no wonder that second hand apps have become increasingly popular.
According to the Office of National Statistics, Brits spent over £5.92 billion on pre-loved products and over £1.07 billion on renting items.
It is hardly surprising then that that more women are turning to Facebook Marketplace, Depop and eBay to boost their banks accounts.
This included Reddit user /Sh0pwithm3, who decided to sell various items on Vinted that were too big after she gave birth.

Whilst the mum-of-one had been prepared for some firece haggling, she hadn’t expected to receive a ‘fat-shaming’ message from a potential buyer.
Initially, they had DM’d the unsuspecting seller about a XXL Nike jumper, which had been listed on the site for £7.50.
Rather than politely offering another price or asking for extra details, the unnamed user sent a shocking message which read: “Hey I’m really struggling right now for money and as ur fat ur probably not struggling cos u can afford so much food to wear an XXL.”
As if this wasn’t already incredibly rude, they wrote: “I’d appreciate if you could send it over to me for free I have no heating I’m sure it would be warm kind regards.”

Though the mum was definitely taken aback, thankfully she did see the funny side of the abrupt message.
After sharing a photo on Reddit, she explained that she has struggled with her body and would have been previously hurt by the message.
“Luckily I’m not who I was years ago I would of taken this to heart and been really upset over it however I’ve been slowly changing my mindset,” she explained revealing that she’d just welcomed her first child.
Ironically though, the Redditor then admitted that she felt guilty about declining the ‘offer’.
She wrote: “Money is tight which is why I’m selling some items but I don’t think I would ever go this far it did give me a good laugh – I do feel bad though.”
The kind-hearted seller said that she would have even accepted a lower price, but opted to block the rude buyer instead.
“I get money is a struggle for most people right now. If they had sent a lower price I would have accepted.” she added: “I don’t get why, they thought it was appropriate to even message this.”
In the comments, others weren’t so forgiving with Redditors also sharing some hilarious responses to the inappropriate message.
One commented: “If that was the case I feel like they wouldn’t be saying “you eat too much so you can give me money” as they would be putting themselves down too.”
Another argued that adding ‘kind regard’ insulted the seller ‘in every possible way’, before saying: “Reply to them: Hi twin. well if you want an XXL as well these seem to fit you and you must then have money as well as you had to buy food to be an XXL.”

The Redditor then added: “Have a nice cold night next to a cold radiator. Greetings from my cosy house.”
We only hope the Vinted user has learnt the error of their ways.
