I just bought my wedding dress but I full-on froze at the store’s weird request – people say it’s insane

WHEN shopping for wedding dresses, a bride-to-be expected her experience to be exciting and smooth.

She was left horrified, however, when she went to checkout.

Ina (@inajosipovic), a soon-to-be-wife who is proud to be in her “bridal era,” recounted her terrible experience while picking out a white gown.

“Can we talk about tipping culture and the weirdest place you’ve ever been asked to tip?” she began in the clip.

She then shared hers.

“I went wedding dress shopping a week and a half ago and I ended up finding my dress at the first store that I went to,” she said.

“And I’m not joking, when I went to go pay, they flipped their little iPad around and it asked for a tip.”

Ina couldn’t hide her shock.

“When I tell you that I full-on froze… like I just stood there, and I think they saw the blood leave my body.

“I did not expect that I had to tip buying a wedding dress.”

She noted that there was no one else in the store except herself and her friends, along with the three employees – making the whole thing more awkward.

Luckily, she and her friends speak a language other than English, so they were able to secretly communicate.

“My friend bought a wedding dress at a different store last year, and I asked her in a different language, ‘Hey, did you tip when you got your wedding dress?’ And she was like, ‘No.’”

The friend said she wasn’t even asked to tip, which solidified Ina’s confusion.

“So, I’m standing there, trying to do math in my head because the dress is already expensive. So, 10% on a $1,500-$2,000 dress is another $200.”

She noted that some dresses are even more expensive, which would make the tip way higher.

“I guess if you can afford a $10,000 dress, maybe a tip isn’t that big of a problem. But, most people can’t.

“Like, my mom is the one who paid for my dress, I was just the one paying for it trying to get points.”

Ina expressed her frustration, admitting that she debated giving a $50 tip, which would end up being 1.5%, “which is almost embarrassing.”

She added that the store should be paying their stylist a commission if they thought she needed to be tipped.

“Have any other brides ever tipped when they bought their wedding dress? Maybe I’m being weird, but I don’t really think that was a service.

“I guess they brought dresses out to me, but I did that when I worked at stores. I just got commission off selling clothes to people, no one was tipping me at a retail store.”

Viewers took her side on the matter.

“Tipping is insane,” one wrote.

“I literally have no shame just pressing no tip,” added another.

“Tell me you left a review online for this so other people are prepared! This is insane,” a third suggested.

“The tipping culture in the US is out of control,” a fourth echoed.
