Mum shamed for parking like ‘an absolute idiot’ in small village – but has the last laugh by pointing out error in note

A MUM who was shamed for parking like “an absolute idiot” in a small village had the last laugh after pointing out the error in a note left on her car.

Shannon Kain, 30, parked up neatly behind a line of other cars while visiting her pal in the leafy West Yorkshire village of Holmbridge at 10.30pm on January 19th.

When she returned to her Skoda Fabia and pulled out she spotted a note tucked under her windscreen wiper.

Concerned it was a ruse by thieves to lure her out of her motor, the mum-of-three continued driving and pulled over at a busy nearby pub allowing her friend to hop out and retrieve it.

The note, written in block capitals, lambasted her for parking like “an absolute idiot”.

The note claimed Shannon’s car would stop emergency vehicles from getting past. However the author of the note spelt emergency the wrong way.

Shannon later posted a message on social media, calling out the anonymous person behind the note.

She said other drivers were responsible for double parking in the area, not her. And Shannon advised them to use a dictionary in future.

Shannon said: “I’d only been driving five days.

“I went to visit my friend and she lives in a little village in this absolutely beautiful area full of lovely people. It’s quite posh, so you don’t expect stuff like that up there.

“The little cul-de-sac is quite busy for parking. I was looking for a parking spot outside my friend’s spot but two other people were parked there.

“I found a spot a bit further down the road and I thought ‘you know what I’ll just pull in here and I’ll walk’.

“When I first started driving I saw something flickering under my windscreen wiper and I said ‘what’s that? That wasn’t on my car earlier’.

“I said [to my friend] ‘don’t get out here because you see all those posts on Facebook where you get people who are trying to rob cars and they wait for you to get out and have a look’.

“We went round the corner, my friend got out of the car and got it for me.

“Once we’d parked up we were like ‘oh my God, I can’t believe it’.”

Shannon’s Facebook post in response to the note read: “To the lovely person who left this on my car last night on [road name redacted].

“I am a new driver and admittedly aren’t brilliant at parking just yet, however I’m far from inconsiderate.

“I made sure before leaving my car there was plenty of room for cars/vans or even bigger to get through.

“My car is absolutely tiny so I really believe the ’emergency’ services definitely would have been able to get through.

“As you mention consideration though, where was your consideration? As I said, I’m a new driver.. I’d had my car for five days when you posted your little anonymous note.

“If you have a problem please feel free to message me! And while you’re at it grab a dictionary too and learn how to spell EMERGENCY before you leave notes on other people’s property… because now you look even more stupid.”
