A MECHANIC has revealed one dangerous trend which “looks cool”, but is a car modification “only stupid people do”.
Car expert Scotty Kilmer says boy racers do one of the “dumbest things” to their suspension system.
The mechanic of 56 years said only “stupid people” drive with a positive camber on their wheels.
A camber is where the suspension on a car is angled so the car’s wheels point in or out.
Drifting drivers put a negative camber on their wheels so the bottom of the tyres point away from the car, giving them better handling.
He says in a YouTube clip: “Now sure, the drifters do it and it may look cool, but you shouldn’t be drifting when you’re driving down the road normally.

“Such adjustments will wear your tyres out, you’ll lose handling, you’ll lose braking ability.
“And worst of all you’ll lose traction because the tyre patch isn’t entirely on the ground.
“So unless you’re drifting and have a separate drift car that you use only for drifting, don’t mess around with the camber of your car.”
Commenters on Scotty’s video called out boy racers, but disagreed with Scotty over whether the angle looks cool.

One car that has a high positive camber – the front wheels pointing in – is the Peel P50, the world’s smallest car.
Motorist and YouTuber Robert Dunn drove the tiny car which he described as a “wonderful, tiny death trap”.
Meanwhile, another expert mechanic has warned garages could refuse to fix a serious engine issue on a Jaguar.
Instead of a quick fuel pump switch, whole sections of the engine, or even the entire thing, could need replacing and re-timing.
