THUGS trying to intimidate politicians are a threat to democracy and will be stopped, Rishi Sunak today blasted.
The PM hit out at “aggressive mobs” after a pro-Palestinian protesters targeted a string of MPs.
Yobs rallied outside the family home of Conservative former minister Tobias Ellwood on Monday night accusing him of complicity in “genocide”.
It came after fellow Tory MP Mike Freer announced he was quitting politics following a spate of abuse.
Pulling no punches, Mr Sunak said today: “Democracy is built on free debate – but increasingly MPs have been targeted by aggressive mobs for exercising those freedoms.
“We will never let those who intimidate prevail. It’s paramount MPs’ security is protected, and our democratic values upheld. Nothing is more important.”

MPs security is a growing concern and yesterday Conservative Jonathan Gullis revealed he has bulletproof clingfilm on the windows of his home.
He said: “Anyone in my community can challenge me. But if you dare come near my house, believe me if the police aren’t going to take action, I’ll take action into my own hands.
“I’m not having my three year old daughter, my two year old son and my fiancée put in danger because a bunch of thugs want to turn up outside my house and intimidate.
“My children and my fiancée should not fall victim to the fact that I happen to be the MP and that I have a certain view, which by the way, may not be shared in my own household.”
