Google to bring call service that will wait on hold for you to all search users

Tired of waiting on hold? Google is trying to alleviate that.

To be more specific, Google is working on a Search feature that will wait on hold for you and ring you up when a live customer service rep is available to speak to, per 9to5Google. It’s available now to Search Labs users, which means it may be available to all Search users at some point in the future.

It sounds pretty simple to use: Just search for a supported company, hit a button that says “Request a call,” specify your reason, provide contact info, and wait. After Google has waited in line in your stead for long enough, it will notify you that a rep is available and connect you with them.

It’s currently supported by a handful of companies like most of the major U.S. airlines, retail companies like GameStop and Best Buy, and insurance companies like Esurance and State Farm. One can assume more companies will hop on the bandwagon in the future if Google’s testing goes well and this becomes a standard feature for Search users.

In the age of rapid AI bloat and crypto scams, it’s nice when a tech company introduces something that’s both simple and seemingly actually useful.
