However, at the top of the show Brad revealed one hopeful would not be competing.

22-year-old Finley from Doncaster sustained a knee injury during training for the show.

Host Bradley told audience and viewers at home that he was being replaced by a stand-in called Wesley.

Reacting to the announcement, Gladiators fans blasted the show as they were left confused about Wes’ future should Finley recover and return to the programme.

Taking to social media, one said: “Why not bring in the guy who was against Finley in the first heat? So weird bringing in a new contender on the quarter finals.”

A second wrote: “So I’m confused if Wesley wins does he carry on in the semi finals or is Finley back then? And why not have the second fastest finisher?”

“Should of been the guy who came second in Finley’s episode,” said a third.

Wesley got off to a flying start and successfully beat Viper – aka Quang Luong on the wall challenge.

After the humiliating defeat, Bradley told the superhuman: “Obviously Wesley has never done the wall before.

“Yet he managed to escape you, you had him then you let him slip through your hands bad day for you.”
