Loose Women’s Charlene White reveals shocking allergic reaction before show that left her barely able to open her eyes

LOOSE Women star Charlene White warned fans she would be looking a bit different on today’s episode – after suffering a nasty allergic reaction.

The 43-year-old star shared a make-up free selfie on Instagram from her dressing room, revealing painful looking swollen eyes that left her eyes barely open.

In a second photo, she shared the magic her make-up artist did to cover-up the issue.

In the caption, pre-empting comments about her appearance, Charlene wrote: “Before the ‘ewww what’s wrong with her eyes!!’ messages start flooding my inbox after [Loose Women], I’ve had an allergic reaction to something (and have had for months now) but it’s pretty bad this morning.

“Could barely open my eyes at 3am.”

“But huge thank-you to Loose make-up’s [Francesca Jordan] for doing a stellar camouflage job and covering it up,” she added.

“And yes I know putting make-up on won’t help the situation, but it was too late to not come into work. Such is life.”

Charlene finished up by saying she was ‘very grateful’ for Francesca’s help before she went out on stage, and she had arranged to meet a specialist to help her get to the bottom of the issue.

The former I’m A Celebrity star’s eye issues come just over a week after Nadia Sawalha was almost commanded off-set and sent to hospital with her own eye issue.

Nadia was left “panic stricken” when she noticed something was wrong with her eye moments before going live.

She explained: “I did the morning meeting, and rang the optician and said I’ve got this, this, this and they said leave now and go straight to A&E.”

Nadia finished with the episode before seeking help, later being diagnosed with a ‘microscopic haemorrhage’, which she explained as an ‘aging eye’ causing the ‘jelly to come off the back’.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
