LIFE is full of surprises – and someone who can definitely tell a little about this is Rivvah Crowther who suddenly became a mum without her having any clue.

The young woman recently claimed that she woke up one morning and was already ”in labour” – despite her not knowing she was pregnant.

According to Rivvah, she experienced a phenomenon known as ”cryptic pregnancy”, where the person doesn’t realise they’re due to become a parent until very late into their pregnancy – or until they go into labour.

For Rivvah, believed to be from the UK, this was in her bedroom all by herself – on the morning she was scheduled to start her brand new job.

Taking to TikTok, Rivvah shared the heart-warming story, as well as adorable snaps of her baby boy, named Oakley.

”Woke up in labour in my bedroom!

”Gave birth to a beautiful baby boy all on my own,” said Rivvah, who claimed that Oakley, who’s now one, was a ”breech” baby.

Babies often twist and turn during pregnancy, but most will have moved into the head-down by the time labour begins – however, Oakley must’ve decided to enter the world with his bottom or feet first, which is also known as the breech position.

”[I] was supposed to start my new job the morning I have birth,” she chuckled in the video.

According to Rivvah, whose boy is a little blue-eyed tot, said that her parents helped her out with most things, as the pregnancy was a surprise to everyone.

”My mum and dad bought absolutely everything while I was in hospital.”

The heart-warming story of Oakley’s unexpected birth – which she described as a ”miracle” – has touched thousands of hearts on social media.

Dozens of fellow TikTok users raced to comments to congratulate Rivvah, with one writing: ”I need to know how the employer reacted, but well done.”

Someone else chuckled: ”Please tell me you have a copy of the email you sent explaining this to your new employer.”

”Omg, he’s a beauty, put him in modelling, stunning looking child,” a third reckoned.

”Oh gosh! What an amazing story! You should be so proud of yourself !! He’s a beautiful boy, congratulations,” another chimed in.

After becoming a mum a year ago, Rivvah regularly shares adorable videos and photos of her little boy, as well as parenting-related content on her page.

However, for the mum it hasn’t all been easy, as she also recently shared a cryptic post to her mates.

”The hardest part about being a mum is watching ”friends” that claim they love your child make no effort.

”You can’t understand it in your own head how someone could walk away from your child.

”It’s okay, though, they will always know loved they are by the people who truly matter.

”I’ll cuddle my boy a bit tighter tonight.”

What is a cryptic pregnancy?

Most people realise they’re pregnant somewhere between four and 12 weeks of pregnancy, according to experts at Cleveland Clinic.

This could be because they experience the symptoms of pregnancy or because they missed their period – however, with a cryptic pregnancy, there’s nothing for the person to assume they’ve fallen pregnant.

There are a number of possible reasons behind this – no symptoms, or the person has mistaken the symptoms for something else, such as a virus.

How common is a cryptic pregnancy?

According to data, cryptic pregnancies are uncommon.

Studies suggest that about 1 in 475 pregnancies go unnoticed until about 20 weeks gestation.

About 1 in 2,500 pregnancies go unnoticed until delivery.

Do you get your period in a cryptic pregnancy?

No. Just like with any regular pregnancy, a cryptic pregnancy will see your menstrual period stop.

However, some people may experience implantation bleeding or abnormal pregnancy bleeding and assume that it’s their period.
