Shocking moment Brazilian lawyer, 42, is shot dead by hooded gunman in front of his Rio de Janeiro office during his lunch break

This is the horrifying moment a lawyer was executed outside his office in Brazil.

Surveillance footage showed Rodrigo Crespo, 42, walking in front of a Rio de Janeiro office to have lunch with his nephew when the gunman, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and cap, shot him.

The killer was seen stepping out of the back seat of a white car and walking up to Crespo from behind and firing multiple shots.

Bystanders immediately ran for safety when the alleged killer leaned over the attorney and fired several more shots.

The shooter ran into the car before the getaway driver sped off from the scene.

Cell phone video footage showed paramedics tending to Crespo before he was declared dead on the scene.

Witnesses told people that one of the suspects called out Crespo by his name prior to being shot.

Authorities canvassed the crime scene and recovered 11 bullet casings that were fired from a 9mm gun.

Investigators have been looking into whether the suspects had done prior surveillance of Crespo before carrying out the shooting. 

No arrests had been reported as of Tuesday afternoon.

Crespo practiced civil business law and cofounded Marinho and Lima Advogados and represented clients who were victims of cryptocurrency schemes.

Metrópoles news outlet reported that in 2022, Crespo took over the defense of fellow lawyer Willer Tomaz in a dispute over the rightful ownership of a $2 million mansion that had been purchased by Richarlisson, the Brazilian soccer star and striker for Tottenham Hotspur.
