Channel 4 bosses forced to backtrack on outrageous sex show Virgin Island – with hilarious change to applications

YOU don’t actually have to be a virgin to be cast on TV’s controversial new ‘Virgin Island’ show – you just need to ‘identify’ as one.

Channel 4’s bold programme, now known as The Intimacy Retreat, has until now struggled to find enough celibate Brits up for popping their cherry on TV.

A troop of adult experts called “sex surrogates” will help the uninitiated do the deed for the first time.

But The Sun can now reveal that hopefuls don’t technically need to be a virgin to take part.

After filling in details of their sexual history, the application asks: “Do you consider yourself a virgin?”

Another box asks them to give details of sexual exploits “if any”, plus details of their childhood.

The show’s makers reveal: “The Intimacy Retreat will be a six-part documentary series for Channel 4 that follows the journey of a group of adults who are virgins (or identify as virgins) as they learn life-changing skills in the art of intimacy.”

Producers hope the virginal participants will pop each other’s cherries.

However if that fails then they will turn to help from specialists known as “sex surrogates”.

Sex surrogates are professionals in the field of intimacy and are often deployed on the advice of medical professionals.

A further section of the application process asks the adults, all required to be aged over 21, to confirm they are not listed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Applications close later this month and the show will begin filming in April.

A TV insider said: “There’s never been a TV show that pushes the boundaries quite like this – and probably never will be again.

“This is a bold social experiment as opposed to anything raunchy, so contributors shouldn’t feel afraid of the process.

“The aim is to hopefully have all the virgins find each other attractive, but if that fails then this is the plan B.

“These people are professionals who are constantly on hand for anything that may be required.”
