Secrets of the Oscars red carpet: How nominees like Emma Stone and Emily Blunt get ready for the biggest night in film from cryotherapy sessions to IV drips – with prep starting MONTHS ago

The biggest night in film is just around the corner, with a host of stars set to descend on Los Angeles‘ Dolby Theatre on Sunday.

Ahead of the glittering ceremony is the action-packed red carpet, where celebrities will duly step and repeat to ensure  the cameras capture them from every angle, before revealing who they are wearing and if they fancy their chances for a win.

Preparations for the iconic theatre began on Friday, with the red carpet rolled out so it’s ready for Hollywood’s elite.

Yet for the stars themselves, the preparation began up to three months ago, with a whole army of experts ensuring the celebrities are in tip top condition for awards season.

Emma Stone is hotly tipped to win the Best Actress gong for her role in Poor Things and previously credited a facial and a cleansing drink with achieving her red carpet glow.

In 2017, Emma let Vogue behind-the-scenes while she got red carpet ready, revealing she started off the day with a SK-II Facial Treatment Mask and a Joan’s Greens cold-pressed juice from Juice Served Here.

Her trainer Jason Walsh also revealed how she and other stars get ready for the big event, saying they start drinking green tea as a natural diuretic while also cutting out alcohol to reduce bloating.

Jason likes to get his clients in best health by implementing strength training and adding some more conditioning training.

Meanwhile, Carey Mulligan will be sticking to her tried and tested beauty method for the Oscars – where she is up for Best Actress for Maestro.

The beauty prep begins the night before with Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Night Serum applied before using a facial massager by Joanna Czech to help the serum seep into her pores.

She follows that up with a ‘fix line smoothing device’ by NuFace, which smoothes out wrinkles.

Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt, up for Best Supporting Actress, also swears by a facial massage and visits celebrity masseur, Lord Gavin McLeod Valentine, prior to hitting the red carpet.

Her signature treatment is Augustinus Bader’s The Method facial, which Lord pairs with his own signature rhythmic facial massage.

DaÂżVine Joy Randolph, tipped to win Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers, opts for a fully body massage on red carpet days (pictured at the Oscars luncheon)

Da’Vine Joy Randolph, tipped to win Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers, opts for a fully body massage on red carpet days in order to ‘rid me of all the toxins and take any puffiness away’.

She gets ready to a soundtrack of Tibetan sound bowls to set a contemplative mood before going out for a FaceGym session, using a gua sha and microcurrent to sculpt the jawline.

Da’Vine keeps her body hydrated throughout by using an IV drip, which she brands a ‘lifesaver’.

She explained:  ‘It helps get you that extra boost of hydration, but also the vitamins to keep you going with this crazy schedule.’

Experts who’ve worked with A-listers including Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Taylor Swift previously spilled their red carpet secrets on This Morning.

Personal trainer Simone de la Rue, who has worked with Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Reese Witherspoon, explained on the show that her clients are prepared to put in the work to look their best.

She told presenter Ferne McCann that they come to her six to eight weeks before the event – or even 12 weeks depending on how much time they have.

‘They train five to six days a week for one hour a day. It sounds like a lot, but you have to make it a priority,’ the LA-based trainer told Ferne.

‘They do because they get paid to look like that. That’s what we forget, it is part of their job description to make sure they look fabulous on the red carpet.’

Celebrities don’t just stop at workouts either, to help things along they have been known to try out cryotherapy.

Stars such as Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Alba have reportedly tried out the treatment which involves stepping into a ‘cryo sauna’ that is chilled to below freezing at -90 degrees.

It is believed the cold therapy helps break down fat cells and reduce the appearance of cellulite, and it can lessen wrinkles and help muscle pain.

Expert dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer, who’s a firm favourite of Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, is on call 24-7 for his patients in need of treatment.

He’s fully booked up but always prepared for phone calls in the middle of the night with blemish problems: ‘We pretty much expect it. Whether it’s midnight, the night before or 4.30am.

‘My cell phone is ringing [all the time], I can never shut it off.’

Celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, who made her name styling Emma Watson during the last three Harry Potter films. always has to be ready for any sort of last minute fashion mishaps.

One client split her dress and made an urgent phone call to her on the way to the ceremony: ‘It was this really beautiful corset dress. Because it was a structured corset none of my thread was going to hold…

‘I got dental floss and sewed her in along the zipper and no one was none the wiser!’
