The incident occurred after Ronaldo thought he had put his side 1-0 ahead.

Bottles rained down on the Al-Nassr team as they celebrated, with one catching Otavio on the head and bursting on impact.

The player immediately collapsed to the floor, and his team-mates pleaded with the crowd to stop launching projectiles.

It was a hostile atmosphere from the start at the King Abdullah Sports City, with fans chanting Messi’s name at Ronaldo throughout.

Al-Nassr would go on to win the game 1-0 through a Ronaldo penalty – giving him the last laugh in the end.

After scoring, Ronaldo and co playfully gave a bit back to the Al-Ahli fans.
