Melissa Joan Hart Speaks Out On Shocking ‘Quiet On Set’ Allegations From Former Nickelodeon Actors And Employees: “I Absolutely Trust Them, Believe Them”

Former Nickelodeon star Melissa Joan Hart recently voiced her support for the former employees and actors who came forward in Investigation Discovery’s Quiet on Set documentary series with shocking allegations of abuse and harassment.

“I don’t know other people’s experiences and I’m not negating anything anybody else says. I’ve never been told these people’s stories that are in the [documentary],” the Clarissa Explains It All actress said during a recent appearance on Meghan McCain Has Entered The Chat. “And I have to say, I’ve never heard a story from a Nickelodeon star personally, nobody’s come to me and talked to me about any of these situations. I absolutely trust them, believe them, one hundred per cent.”

Hart noted that she had filmed Clarissa Explains It All in Orlando instead of Hollywood, which may explain why her experience as a child star was so different.

“In Orlando, I had nothing but a wonderful experience,” she said. “They did work the kids a lot harder than they probably legally should. We had a ton of fun, it was just long hours, that’s all – because I had to do school and the show.”

The actress starred in Clarissa Explains It All from 1991 to 1994 as a teenager. She later landed her lead role in Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1996, soon after she started college.

Hart told host Meghan McCain on the podcast that she felt protected on set of the Nickelodeon sitcom.

“I was surrounded by an amazing crew, an incredible cast that took such good care of me. I mean, these people were protective of me,” she said. “I have to say, not every egg in the Nickelodeon basket is rotten. There were some good eggs – there were some people that really took care of me.”

She is the latest Nickelodeon star to speak out since the shocking allegations were brought forth in the documentary series.

Kenan Thompson recently reflected on the “tough” accusations leveled in Quiet on Set, noting that he “never witnessed” many of the alleged events detailed in the series.

“It’s a tough subject. It’s tough for me because I can’t really speak on things that I never witnessed. All these things happened after I left, basically,” he said. “Dan [Schneider] wasn’t really on Kenan & Kel like that. He got a ‘Created by’ credit, but it was a different showrunner.”

He added, “It’s a good thing that the doc is out and it’s putting things on display that need to be, stories that need to be told for accountability’s sake. But it’s definitely tough to watch because I have fond memories of that place. I have fond memories of my co-stars. To hear that they’ve gone through terrible things like that, it’s really tough.”
