This stunning Audi RS2 Avant is perhaps one of the world’s best loved estates, not least because of it’s awesome power and careless good looks.

This model, built in 1995, is described in the listing as a “sought-after modern classic high-performance estate” that boasts a turbocharged 2.2-litre inline-five motor which delivers 311 bhp to all four wheels.

In terms of oomph, that works out at a top speed of 163 mph – about the same as a Ferrari 456.

Indeed, in a road test by Autocar magazine, he RS2 was able to go from 0 to 30 mph in just 1.5 seconds, which they confirmed as faster than the outrageous McLaren F1 road car.

The RS2 was a first of its kind project from Audi, who enlisted the help of their German high-performance chums over at Porsche to work on some of its parts.

As a result, the fast estate was built at Porsche’s famed Zuffenhausen plant and features Porsche-designed braking and suspension systems.

It also boasts bits from Porsche models of the era, such as 993-generation 911 door mirrors, ‘Cup’ alloy wheels, and 993 bumper-mounted front indicators.

Inside, the motor is drool-inducingly cool with a 90s-standard sunroof overseeing the front Recaro sports seats, electric windows, and a Blaupunkt stereo.

Experts at Collecting Cars added: “This example is finished in a classic colour combination and has enjoyed significant attention throughout the seller’s 12-month ownership, during which time several items have been replaced including the timing belt, tyres, and brakes.

“It would now make a natural addition to a wider assembly of performance Audis as well as an involving and entertaining weekend steer at the hands of its next enthusiast owner.”

New look at Audi RS5

First launched in the UK in summer of 1994, with a hefty price-tag of over £45,000, only 182 right-hand drive versions came to the UK.

According to Top Gear, prices for the RS2 typically vary between £25,000 and £40,000 – with the cheapest examples showing 150,000 miles or more on the clock.

At the time of writing, this model – with 115,000 miles – has current bid of £14,000 with four days still to go before the auction ends.

Meanwhile, Audi’s final ever R8 model rolled off the German brand’s production line recently – with the iconic sports car being discontinued after 17 years.

The last ever R8 will never be driven though, as car is not set to be put up for sale and won’t make it to a customer or collector.

And elsewhere, McLaren’s “most extreme road car ever” went up for sale with just five miles on the clock, complete with a huge price drop.
