BEING bold when using color in your home can make the space look luxurious, according to an interior designer.

He shared his pick of the best colors and accessories to give homes an opulent aesthetic without splashing the cash.

Daniele Mancinetti founded König Design Studio in 2020, to transform the interior of private residences and restaurants.

He doesn’t shy away from colors, textiles, and patterns when creating timeless spaces that are “warm and elegant.”

He revealed to The U.S. Sun that he has four hacks for making a home look expensive on a budget.

UPGRADE LIGHTING FIXTURES

Daniele said the choice of lighting fixtures in your home can “significantly” impact the ambiance of the space.

Photos of the properties he has worked on on his website show artistic ceiling lights in bedrooms and lamps that evoke a relaxed feel.

“Swap out outdated or builder-grade light fixtures for more stylish and modern options,” he said.

“Statement lighting can instantly elevate the look of a room and create a sense of luxury.”

COLOR DRENCH YOUR SPACE

Many people paint their homes in light colors to create the illusion of having more space.

However, the interior designer revealed this isn’t the best choice for homeowners who want to create a lavish feel.

“Choose a bold, rich color and paint the whole room in it for an embracing, luxurious look,” he said.

“This technique, known as color drenching, creates a sense of drama and sophistication without the need for expensive decor items.

“Opt for deep hues like navy, emerald green, or burgundy to make a statement and elevate the overall aesthetic of your home.”

Daniele recommended opting for old items in good condition to furnish the home.

“Decorating with antiques will create an atmosphere that new pieces just can’t,” he said.

“And the beauty of working with older furniture is that you can easily create an eclectic mix that is united, perhaps, by just a finish, a paint color, or a handle style.”

Budget interior design tips

Interior designer Judy Hoang shared her furniture tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Thrift furniture and paint it to match your decor.
  • Test if an item is fit for its purpose before thrifting.
  • Shop at Target or HomeGoods for rugs, lamps, desks, and pillows.
  • Invest in classic timeless pieces.
  • Set up smart home lighting to save money.

DECORATE FOR ALL THE SENSES

The interior designer revealed scent is just as important as the look and feel of the textures in the home.

“Take a note from hotel design and give your home a signature scent,” he said.

“It’s incredible how much this can transform your home.

“Our go-to is Sicilian Thyme by Soho Home and Basilicum by Zara Home.”
