It is an increase of 32 per cent from 2021, which saw 22,979 car thefts not attended in England.

The worst performing police force was Cambridgeshire, which did not attend more than 90 per cent of 1,282 car thefts.

Bedfordshire followed closely behind, with 88 per cent of the 1,343 stolen cars seeing no cop visit the scene.

Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said: “These figures are shocking and show the government is failing to get a grip on the car theft epidemic across the country.
