A MUM has revealed that her young daughter is being bullied for the unusual name she gave her, adding that even the child’s best friend is making fun of her because of it.
Choosing a name for your child can be tricky, you want to find something that’s unique enough to make them feel special, but not so much that they are picked on in school.
Taking to Reddit, the mum shared that she had chosen to give her daughter the unique name Blayzee.
Now that her daughter is seven, she revealed that children have started to cotton on to the fact that Blayzee’s name is unconventional, and have begun to pick on her at school.
She said: “My seven year old’s name is Blayzee and recently shes’ been coming home from school and saying kids are making fun of her name.
“She even said her best friend said her mum must have been young when I named her.

“What should I do?”
The post was flooded with helpful posts form Reddit users, with some suggesting that she should let her child change her name.
One person said: “It’s an awful name, so you need to allow your child to choose a real name now.”
Another person said: “Short of legally changing her name, does she have a middle name she could use that isn’t the same genre as Blayzlee?”

In the UK, you can legally change your name via deed poll for £48.32.
You have to be over 18 to make the change and must send documents to the Royal Courts of Justice to do so.
However, it can be tricky and time consuming to have your name changed on official documents such as your passport, so some people opt to go by their middle name, or a nickname, if they are not a fan of the name their parents gave to them.
Many Reddit users were very critical of the mother for her choice of name.

“It’s terrible when kids are teased.
“As a mum you need to own your mistake”.
Another person said: “Odd names are isolating for a child.
“You thought it was cute but others can’t spell it, remember it or understand it’s pronunciation.
“So how does anyone be-friend your child with this huge barrier to forming a friendship?
