AMERICAN rapper and singer Kid Cudi has broken his foot after jumping off stage at Coachella music festival.
The 40-year-old was a surprise addition to the second weekend line-up of the desert extravaganza, which takes place near Palm Springs, California, but things took a turn for the worse when he had to unexpectedly end his set.
In a video posted by a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kid Cudi decided to jump off the Sahara stage to get closer to fans – and in the process, landed badly on his foot.
This was the rapper’s first time performing at Coachella since 2019.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon during his performance of Memories, a track withinternational DJ David Guetta.
A security guard and photographer came to the music star’s rescue, taking an arm each to quickly carry him out, before he was rushed to hospital.

Fans took to social media to comment during the aftermath.
One said: “Your set was amazing! Wishing you a speedy recovery”
“I can’t believe you broke your foot and took it like such a champ too” another added.
A third commented: “Hope it will heal faster so you can rage again for the Insano tour”

Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, also took to X to speak about his fall:
“Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. Just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy.
“I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big” He continued.
In his set, he performed new tracks MOON MAN S**T and BLUE SKY ahead of his Insano World Tour, which begins later this year.
Kid Cudi is widely recognised as a trailblazer in the contemporary hip hop scene.
The American rapper, singer and record producer shot to international stardom following the release of his 2008 mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi.
This would go on to catch the eye of famous musician Kanye West, who signed the music star to his Good Music record label.
He has since released major hits such as Day ‘n’ Nite and Pursuit of Happiness becoming a household name in the world of rap.
