The internet’s forum is having a back-end issue that has knocked Reddit completely offline.
Reddit isn’t working for most users right now. The site isn’t loading and displays an error message reading, “Oops, something went wrong, please try again later.”
Reddit is aware of the issue and says the site will be back “shortly.” At 12:52PM ET, the platform made an update on its status page, saying, “An issue with a Reddit backend has impacted many users on our site.” As of 1:14PM ET, the site said it has “identified the issue” and is “remediating it.”
This outage appears to have started around 12:45PM ET, with Downdetector recording a massive spike of outage reports at that time.
Reddit seems to have been dealing with issues earlier today as well. Its status page says it resolved another issue at around 12PM ET. We don’t know when Reddit could come back online, but for the internet’s reply guys, commenters, lurkers, and posters of all stripes, we hope it’s restored soon — or else we might have to get some work done.
Update April 25th, 1:24PM ET: Added an update from Reddit.
