AN eye-popping new 250mph quad bike that looks like a Lotus with the roof removed also has a “closely guarded secret”.

The Engler V12 has been dubbed the world’s fastest quad bike and can go from 0-62 mph in under 2.4 seconds.

Slovakian firm Superquad say brave buyers will have an option to purchase an engine upgrade option to achieve 1200 HP, on a par with a Bugatti Chiron.

What makes the Engler V12 truly remarkable is its power-to-weight ratio, maintaining a 1:1 ratio with its 1,200 kg frame.

The unique motor also brings 1,200 Nm of torque to the table, ensuring that this machine is as capable of thrilling acceleration as it is of performing practical tasks, such as towing.

The V12 features an 8-speed dual-clutch in what Superquad calls the lightest gearbox ever used in a road-legal car.

The company say the gear system is undergoing rigorous testing in various cars on tracks.

But the manufacturers are preparing to soon commence their own tests “in normal traffic”.

The firm are currently keeping the engine “a closely guarded secret”, to be revealed within the next 12 months.

However, they are prepared to disclose that the brakes are tailor-made 6/4-piston Brembos with carbon-ceramic discs.

The wheels are forged magnesium 20-inchers, and the carbon body sits on a carbon monocoque with titanium/ChroMoly subframes.

Engler have not released a price or buy date.

Despite its formidable capabilities, the Engler V12 is, at its core, still a quad bike—albeit one that pushes the definition of what a quad bike can be.

Traditional quad bikes, like the Yamaha Raptor 700R, offer around 40 horsepower and are praised for their performance.

The Engler V12, however, multiplies this figure by 30, challenging the very nature of quad bike dynamics.

This machine doesn’t lean into corners like a motorcycle nor does it offer the protective enclosure of a car, presenting a unique blend of exposure and exhilaration that is rare in the automotive world.

Viktor Engler, CEO of Engler, says: “In an era dominated by discussions of downsizing, reduced cylinder counts, disappearing engine displacements, and the rise of hybrid vehicles, we’ve chosen to take a different path.

“We proudly introduce the Engler V12.”

He adds: “We won’t stop till we’re legends.”

It comes after a petrolhead known as ‘Mr Lambo’ showed off his lavish car collection.
