‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ trailer: Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn escape an alien-infested New York

What happens when noise-sensitive aliens crash land New Yoek City — aka in one of the loudest cities on Earth? Nothing good.

That’s the premise of A Quiet Place: Day One, the prequel to John Krasinski’s 2018 horror hit about a fateful alien invasion that turned the world silent. The latest trailer introduces us to New York resident Sam (Lupita Nyong’o, Us) and her very good service cat, who find themselves at the center of a horrifying alien apocalypse.

Sam will have to team up with other survivors (played by Stranger Things Joseph Quinn and A Quiet Place: Part II‘s Djimon Hounsou) if she has any hope of making it out of New York. But with aliens swarming and bridges leading out of Manhattan blown sky-high, chances of escape are slim to none. Their one hope for survival? Staying absolutely silent — a near-impossibility in the city that never sleeps.

A Quiet Place: Day One hits theaters June 28.
