Man Utd fail in late bid to HIJACK Chelsea’s free transfer for Premier League star amid delay over Ten Hag decision

MANCHESTER UNITED have failed in a bid to hijack Chelsea’s move for Tosin Adarabioyo, it’s been claimed.

SunSport revealed last month that the Blues were leading the race to sign the centre-back, who is now a free agent after leaving Fulham.

The West Londoners stole a march on Newcastle to acquire the 26-year-old’s services.

But according to The Daily Mail, they had to fend off late interest from United to land the former Manchester City academy star.

They claim the Red Devils submitted a “concrete proposal” Adarabioyo’s way last weekend.

But the defender is said to have snubbed the offer as he had already committed his future to Chelsea.

New Blues boss Enzo Maresca worked with Adarabioyo – who had a medical with the Blues this week – during his time at Manchester City.

And the Italian is said to have played a major part in the former Fulham man’s decision to stay in West London.

The failure to convince Adarbioyo to move to Old Trafford comes amid the chaos surrounding Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

SunSport revealed last month that the United brass had opted to relieve the Dutchman of his duties even if he guided them to FA Cup glory.

Ten Hag, however, has yet to have been given his P45.

It’s unclear why the club haven’t bit the bullet and given Ten Hag his marching orders.

Ten Hag guided United to an eighth-placed finish last season but insists he’s the right man to take the club forward.

When asked if he thinks he’s got what it takes to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford, he said last month: “Absolutely.

“If the right players are available, we have a good squad.

“We miss almost the whole backline and then we have problems. I will keep fighting.”
