Shortly after arriving in Ireland, the amnesiac got kidnapped and taken to a remote island.

In tonight’s episode of the BBC drama he was seen trying to escape from his captors after running out of the shed where he was being held.

Elliot was pursued to a cliff’s edge by the people looking for him, and rather than hiding out in the woods, opted to hang off a ledge in an attempt to avoid being caught.

People watching the thriller were left groaning at his decision.

One put the character on blast, asking: “Does losing your memory make you stupid?”

Another hit out: “Why does the main character in The Tourist not know how to hide when being pursued. He could have had one of those 4 wheelers away rather than hang 30metres above the coastline by a tree root.”

A third sarcastically queried: “So his amnesia extends to the concept of hiding?”

Someone else pointed out that the show is meant to be a thriller, grumbling that the creators should stop trying to add in a comedic element.

Other viewers complained that the scene looked unrealistic.

One wrote: “That cliff is completely CGI’d.”

A second agreed: “The cliff in King Kong looked more realistic!”
