The Fast Show’s most hilarious moments – from foul-mouthed parrot sketch to Johnny Depp’s outrageous suit cameo

THE Fast Show was a staple of British comedy throughout the 1990s and provided audiences with countless sketches.

The Sun has compiled a list of the most hilarious moments from the BBC programme from the downright crazy to some of the most remembered.

The Rambling Hiker and the ‘owl’

A classic sketch starring Paul Whitehouse and Mark Williams.

Paul’s character can be seen taking a hike through the countryside and decides to ask a seemingly innocent man for some water when he passes him on his travels.

However, it soon takes a rather unexpected turn when the man can’t stop ranting about the fog and being stuck in a hole with an owl.

He played a US native in Britain looking for a suit from a rather incompetent shopkeper.

Having kicked off the introduction rather awkwardly by pretending to “cup an imaginary woman’s breasts”, the suit tailor continues to ask Johnny’s character some rather personal questions.

Joined by a second tailor, a series of ohh’s and ahh’s quickly follow amid a bizarre display as Johnny goes on to shout: “Just build me a f***ing suit.”

It isn’t long until he can be seen ‘grinding’ along with the pair of them as laughter rings out from the audience before the credits roll.

The expletive Parrot

The parrot was mute, until it wasn't!
The parrot was mute, until it wasn’t!

Unlucky Alf (played by Whitehouse) was known as the unluckiest man in the world bought himself a parrot.

The birds are known to mimic human speech and unfortunately this pet was rather limited in the vocabilarly department.

He looked to the camera to say the word: “b*****,” as the animal appeared to be mute.

Now he was on his own, he needed company, but the parrot did not stay silent for long.

Just as he sat down for a bit of peace and quiet, a whole lot of expletives came flying out!

The Posh Cockneys

The public house was a place for people with accents like the late Queen asking for jellied eels!
The public house was a place for people with accents like the late Queen asking for jellied eels!

They’re, “hard as nails, but lovable and cheeky with it,” it’s only the posh cockneys.

Imagine folks storming into a pub calling the customers “simple northern folk”.

Then East End born and bred couple made the audience howl with laughter as they asked for Jellied Eels, in a voice almost mimicking Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

They almost get into fistiecuffs untill another character comes along, he says he is from, “You know, Kingston. In Richmond-upon-Thames.”

Jazz Club

One sketch involved a TV presenter whose style imitated the legendary broadcaster Bob Harris and bond actor Roger Moore.

In the episode, Louis Balfour (played by John Thomson) was trying to present an edition of Jazz Club, but one scat singer put on quite the show!

Instead of getting on with the performance, he spent most of his time standing up and messing around with poor Louis’ face.

Who can forget the line: “Relax, pay your income tax!”, before a near screaming match priceless!
