Shocking moment ranting Brit is held down by easyJet cabin crew after ‘trying to kiss male passenger on the lips’ on Lisbon flight – before ‘jetting home days later in woolly hat and sunglasses disguise’

This is the shocking moment a ranting Briton was held down by cabin crew after allegedly trying to kiss a male passenger on the lips on a flight to Lisbon.

The man was filmed by a fellow passenger as he was restrained by cabin crew members onboard an easyJet flight from Glasgow to Lisbon on February 6. 

Footage shows the man being held down by a steward while he repeatedly hurled abuse at him and other staff, even threatening to punch them during his rant.

At one point the passenger tried to get back on his feet, but the cabin crew calmly held him down. This caused the man to scream out and shout: ‘I will kill you, you f***ing c****.’

The incident started during the descent to Lisbon, after the ‘intoxicated’ man tried to kiss a male passenger, a fellow flyer said. But when he was rejected, he reportedly became ‘aggressive’ to the point he had to be restrained.

‘The police took him away. However, I think he was on the return flight on the Saturday wearing a full disguise of a woolly hat, sunglasses and headphones,’ the unnamed witness who filmed the incident added.

They said the man was reportedly drinking red wine throughout the flight, which set off in Scotland at 9.45am. 

He was ‘very intoxicated’ and ‘was being rude to anyone who looked his way then demanding they shake his hand’, the passenger said. 

When the man turned around to shake the hand of the man sitting directly behind him, he was ignored, which allegedly caused him to lean over his seat and try to ‘kiss the man on the lips’. 

The passenger pushed the ‘drunk’ man away, but he got ‘very aggressive shouting at everyone and throwing punches’.

‘He was trying to attack the man who he tried to kiss before which caused passengers to have to restrain him,’ the witness said.

‘He was restrained for approximately 35 minutes before Portuguese police were able to take him off the plane. Even when the police came to take him away he was trying to wrestle with them.’

A spokesperson for easyJet said: ‘Flight EJU7670 from Glasgow to Lisbon on 6 February was met by police upon arrival due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard.

‘Our cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

‘Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour towards our crew or other passengers.

‘The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.’

This comes after another ‘drunk and abusive’ man was detained by four passengers onboard an eight-hour JetBlue flight from Gatwick Airport to New York JFK on January 30.

Footage showed a group of Brits, who stepped in to help the airline staff calm the man down, struggle to restrain him.

One could be seen holding him in a headlock, however, the allegedly drunk passenger managed to wriggle free.

A woman, dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms and a black t-shirt, asked the passenger holding him to remove his finger from near the man’s eye.

She said: ‘Please get that off of his face,’ to which he replied: ‘I can’t just leave him.’ She added: ‘No, no, no listen, don’t tell me to stop.’ A fellow flyer told the woman to ‘move back now’.

She then said: ‘Ben, Ben Stop fighting them. Stop fighting them,’ whilst the four hero passengers attempt to hold him back. 

The clip then showed the group standing in the narrow gangway as they knocked into seats, with other passengers recording the footage on their mobiles. 

The man attempted to escape from them, but the group managed to restrict him and moved him down the plane aisle, towards two cabin crew members.

Witness Grant Saunders claimed the man was ‘drunk and getting loud and aggressive’ whilst moving around other seats on the flight. ‘Then when the crew asked him to calm down, he started getting worse,’ he added.

The flight took off from Gatwick at 11.55am and arrived on time at 8.16pm GMT on January 30. 

JetBlue told MailOnline that the crew discovered an opened bottle of liquor the customer had brought on board. They confirmed that the man was restrained and that law enforcement dealt with him when they landed in New York.

‘We appreciate our customers’ assistance and understanding during this incident and apologise for the experience,’ the airline said.
