Horror moment cop draws gun and clings to car roof as driver speeds away sending him flying off and breaking his back

THIS is the shocking moment a cop desperately clings onto the roof of a suspect’s speeding car before he is sent flying and breaks his back.

Dramatic footage shows the police officer pointing his gun at the driver and gripping onto the motor as he speeds away.

Police officer Patrick McCarty pulled over Dennis Guider Jr. in Illinois because a warrant was out for his arrest.

He asked Guider, 29, to step out of the car, but instead he drove towards the cop, who pulled out his gun and jumped onto the hood.

McCarty told him to “Stop the f***ing car!”, but ends up being dragged away on top of the motor as it was driven at around 50 mph.

Guider ignored the cop and continued to drive as McCarty shouted at him to “pull over” and “put on the f***ing brakes”.

The cop later dragged himself onto the roof in a desperate attempt to cling on.

Guider then drove through a ditch as the police officer clung to the roof, sending him flying and landing on his back.

In dash cam footage released by police, McCarty can be seen calling out “I need medics”.

He later tells his concerned partner “I’m OK man, go get him”, despite the severity of his injuries.
